Mt. Lebanon Golf Course, Pittsburgh, PA

The description seems a little dated as I don't ever remember this course being 3,074 yards. It's 2,967 now and 34.3/118 for ratings. This course is a little TLC away from being way better. They have upgraded carts, ball washers are in good shape and there is a pop machine/water in the clubhouse (which you can hit up after hole 6). Apparently they're re-grading 2 holes this winter, which will be great as hole #4 is a Par 5 that you can't hold the fairway due to the severe left-to-right slope and #5 is a blind Par 3. Their main issue is slow play. They don't have a starter on weekends so it's a free for all, no grouping people together and tee times not spaced apart. On a course like this with 2 par 3's, 2 driveable Par 4's, and a Par 5 that's reachable in 2, be prepared to spend 3 hours to play. At least it's BYOB which eases the pain of being out there.

The staff is very helpful, 9 holes is only $10 for juniors like myself on the weekend, and the course is surprisingly difficult for a public course. The hills that make up the South Hills of Pittsburgh are part of what makes the course a challenge as well as some tough pin placements. The course could use a more regular mowing and the sand traps should be better maintained, but I would definitely recommend this perfectly acceptable local course.
