Locust Valley Golf Club

Not much to the course. Other than the fairway on the 18th hole, it is always in good shape. Hole number 8 is too quirky for my liking. Occassionally crowded, but generally it is not too bad. Good course for the price.

I played at 4pm on a Saturday. It cost $25.50 with an electric cart. No golfers in front of us or behind us. No food or beer either. The course was beautiful. Greens are relatively flat. Some fairways are tight. It''s an old mature course. Bring your own food and drinks. Fairways have markers on sprinkler heads as well as 100, 150, 200. Tee boxes have concrete markers in them as well. I can''t say enough good things about this place. But I generally only play later in the day when the place quiets down.

This is a sweet old course.

It was a private course in the day, now public, and at risk of being developed for housing. The clubhouse isn't much, but there are a number of old stone bridges, tight fairways, and unique holes to make me hope this gem is still a golf course for many years to come...
