Very hilly, not too many flat lies, well maintained greens, friendly clubhouse staff, and good rangers. Good course for the money, but tough on the legs. they require carts to be on the cart path a lot of the time. Very wide fairways.

This course is a BLAST! As said below, this course has lots and lots of hills. Several holes run parallel and cross a deep valley that just happens to have the road in at the bottom. Has a few wide open fairways, but most are well protected by trees - a test of your ability to drive straight. Holes 9 & 18 are unique in their length. 9 is a par 3, 150 with a 100' DROP. The green looks like a tea cup! The 18th is a 600+ yard PAR 6 that is reachable in 2 (So the legend says.) The hole can be all down hill if hit correctly. Not the best conditions, but VERY playable. EXCEPTIONALLY FRIENDLY staff, and the course caters to families. If you are a family of 5, give them a call and you can get all of you in one party. Views of the SF Bay from a couple holes are worth two rounds a day. AMAZING on a clear day. This is a very old course (~1920 design), so very worth checking out how an old design stands up to the new ones. I will play this one any chance I can get.
Tough, tough, tough course. Lot's of hills. I can't remember a single time that my ball landed on a flat lie. you must know how to hit balls on a hill before playing this course. It's hard to enjoy this course if you don't know where to hit the ball. you won't see a lot of sand shots but you will get a great exercise from all the walking over the hills. Did I mention that they have a PAR 6 18th....
