playing any of these courses is a wonderful experience, and an excellent value. for the cost of your average muni course and 1/10 the price of a private course you get a world class golf course. the red is certainly a very underrated course. the condition of the course, excluding the holes under construction from the us open, was excellent. an excellent challenge to any golfer (it plays 7,300 yards from the champ tees). every bunker is perfectly placed, its as if tillinghast knew when he designed exactly where golfers will miss on each hole. there were many doglegs, at least 13. the round took about 5 hours, an acceptable amount of time for a round. the clubhouse is beautiful and the food is great. excellent golf course.

Excellent course and amazing value for New York residents. Played the course recently and it's in very good condition considering it's still early spring. The only issue at the moment is that due to the upcoming US Open on the Black, three holes on the Red have been hacked down to make up for the large structures being built on three of the fairways. The 1st and 18th have been converted to very short par 3s and the 5th has been shorted down to a par 4. That's a bit annoying, but a necessary evil. The course is tough but fair and very long from the tips. Greens were smooth and in good conditions even in April. In terms of public courses in the region about the only thing better than the Red would be the Black... and that's right next door ;-).

Played here 6/22/08. Had a great time even though I was off my game. Very good test of golf for the intermediate to advanced golfer. The greens were in pretty good shape considering this is the most busy time. Some Loooong par 4s out there. Love the course(s) and the clubhouse and patio. Great place to spend the day.
