Championship Golf Course At University of New Mexico

Played here in late March and found the conditions to be superb. Very friendly staff and good practice facilities. Unlike your average public course, this place lets their long grass actually grow long. Hit the fairways or bring your weed whacker. Challenging, but fun course!

This is a very nice course for any area, but, very nice considering it is a university public. Well laid out and pretty well taken care of. Well molded into the land and a nice change as opposed to the majority of desert courses in the area. A few rough spots but good attention to detail. Greens and tee boxes may need a little bit more of work. Service was a bit lacking on our visit though. Will definately play again.

UPDATE: Have played a few more times. Very difficult from the Gold Tees even though they are not that far back. Fairways a bit wet even at 1400. Greens and Tee boxes still a bit rough compared to the rest of the course which is in very good shape.

Andy was very helpful both via Email and on the phone which is a great plus for the course to be able to reach the course manager and head pro.

I played this course yesterday. Green were very fast, comparable to putting in a bath tub. Fairways were kind of wet. But they aare trying to get the course ready for the NCAAs next week. Lots of vermin, squirrels actually raid my snack from the cart; rabbits everywhere.
