The 18-hole "East Orange" course at the East Orange Golf Course facility in Short Hills, New Jersey features 5,647 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Tom Bendelow, the East Orange golf course opened in 2015.
The course was wide open allowing for a quick round. The course looked like it was not being kept up during the pandemic, grass not mowed in many places and greens were WAY TOO slow. It felt like we need 3 woods to putt. Also rates were much higher than previous years, maybe trying to make up for being closed.
This by far the absolute worst maintenance I have ever seen on a golf course. It really is a shame because the layout of the course is really nice. However, I do not think anyone has raked the geese droppings in over a year. I had to drive through a maze to find the next hole because there are no signs to guide you. The tee boxes consist of uneven markers in high uncut grass. It was difficult to tell where the fairway ended and the green began. They charge 18 to walk the course. Even at that price it is still a ripoff. I would rather play golf on a frozen lake than return back to that dump. Again, it is a shame because the course has a lot of potential if someone would maintain it.
Poorly maintained, small greens, outdated facilities, and what seems to be a non-caring staff. The location is good, and usually try this course out once every two years because of the location but I amm left feeling disappointed after I leave. I rated it high on value, only because I feel it's a course I can get on without a hassle, and 40$, although high for this course, isn't a bad price compared to what it costs to play other courses in the area. If you want to work out something with your game its fine for that, but I wouldn't bring friends to this course.
