That last review sounds like a complete lie. I play there every Monday. It's great and affordable. For the money you pay the course is in great shape. Dont stretch the truth to fit your narrative, it's just wrong

My father played this course with his friends for years. On the anniversary of his death my daughter and her friends went to play his favorite course. The other staff was very kind and professional. Before they went the girls all asked their dads if you could share clubs there. They were told by more than three people that they see people doing that here. The girls had practiced and were ready to go. On the FIRST hole the owner came out and said " You need to leave" When they asked why, he said no shared clubs. Rules are rules. They do have a mens loaner club set available, other people say they do it, but it it acceptable not to allow it if that is the rule. The girls offered to rent a cart and let the two girls with clubs play. That was a no too. He just told them to leave. They are heading to Etowah to a course with club rentals. HAD the owner been professional and kinder, that would have been fine. Ladies, find a course that can accommodate you especially if you are a beginner. Rules are rules, we respect that. But professionalism is also expected at a course. The course is nice, it has some tricky holes which makes it a challenge. It hold special memories for our family. Now we have a new one.

Crooked Creek Golf Club is a public course (that also has private members) situated in a mature golf community. The course is designed in and around a community of homes. It opened in 1968.

This course is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s by no means maintained as well as a private club, but the fairways are decent and the greens are true. The price is also reasonable - $30 for 18 holes with cart. Each holes has 4 tees, and it’s a nicely paced course. For the most part, fairways are open and straight. There’s a nice view of the mountains, and the trees are especially scenic in the Fall.

Here’s a bit more info about the holes you’ll want to watch out for. #2 and #3 are narrow holes with tick tree line on either side, #3 also doglegs to the right. #14 is a blind shot with a treeline on the left that doglegs to the left. Even the Par 3’s are still a nice challenge.

The course is pretty popular, so it can be in rough shape from wear and tear. The golf carts are older too. With that being said, the staff are still friendly. Keep in mind that there is no restaurant, snack cart or concession - only a vending machine, so you may want to bring some snacks along. Also - they only take cash.

My biggest complaint about the course is that play is extremely SLOW. For example, 18 holes take over 4 hours on a weekday. For that reason, I recommend a morning tee time. Last cart is at 6:30 p.m. It would be nice if the course would stay open a bit later in the Summer.

Keep an eye out for the local homes that are sometimes very close to the fairways (Holes #2 and #3 are surrounded by homes from the local community.) If you don’t mind a slower round, this course has plenty of other things to offer. It’s very walkable, fairways and greens are maintained, it has scenic views of the mountain and friendly staff. It’s a course I’ll definitely come back to when I want to play a low pressure round of golf.
