I played this course for the first time in June 2007 and found it fairly easy to play. There was a lot of work going on around the course, bunker maintenance, pesticide spraying, and mowing. The greens were hard and fast, but given the drought we'd been in with many days in the high 90s, the maintenance crew was probably doing all that was possible to just keep them alive. The clubhouse is a very clean and contemporary design for a modular building - sort of a triplewide modular that looks like a portable building on the outside, but it's surprisingly decorated on the inside with quality touches here and there. During my visit, the staff seemed to be mostly older teenagers, with a couple of older men working the cart area. The kid behind the counter had a hard time giving me the green fees without using the computer . . . I thought, "Really, can it be that hard?" All I wanted to know was how much to play nine more holes. He finally broke out a calculater and came up with a price of $5.02 . . . I still don't understand that. But, that's what happens when you put a kid in a key customer service position. I can't say that I felt welcome when checking in - almost as if someone was doing me a favor by taking my green fees. Here in the South, I expect a little more of our traditional hospitality. As a first-time player on this course, I found navigating the back nine a little confusing - not impossible, but not very clear either. Overall, I get the impression that Silver King is aspiring to become more of an upscale course, but it's still got a way to go. It takes more than nice fixtures in the restroom.

Silver King

This course is nothing but hard pan. Mobile is the rain capital of the U.S.A. and has had plenty of rain. The course was built on extremely hard surface. I could not leave a divot no mater how hard I hit the ground. The club just rebounded off the ground. If you normaly drive 250 off the tee, here it will roll out to 350. Balls just ricochet off the ground. A lob wedge shot from 70 yards out hit the front of the green and bounced 30 yards in the air and sailed 10 yards past the green for (the green was about 30 yards across). The fringe around the greens is very poor. The course if maintained correctly and softened up would be a great course. As it is now I will not play it again. The $34.00 fee would be very fair if the course was in decent shape, but as it is I would not pay over $10.00 to play it.

My recomendation is play a different course, this one is not worth your time.

this course is not a great course but its not a bad course either. the fairways are healthy and the greens were terrific, i got good roll and the lines held true. those were the key points. on the flip side of the coins the maintenance could do better. there are several unrepaired divots in the fairways and on the greens. i know that as players we need to do our part on upkeep but the grounds crew must pick our slack. ppl seem to drag their feet alot when walking on the greens because they leave the scuff marks behind if you know what i m saying. i will come and play here again but only if i m meeting friends to play not by choice. although the rates are very good, for just a couple more bucks there are a few other places i d rather go, and get to drink a beer or two when done to cool down. 2.5 stars.

A surprisenly nice course for the sorta out of the way location, fairways and greens in fairly good condition, very nice employees, and the rangers go out of their way too please. I was offered a cold towel out on the course. But would like too be able to take a cooler, and have a cold drink, not really care for the alcohol, but think that it should be accepted, like most courses. Think that the course is trying too be too ritzy and picky for such a mediocre course. Come on owners, let the golfers have their coolers are sell them a cool beer like most courses. You would be surprised at the golfers that you would bring in. And I don't even drink. But I golf twice a week at Silver King and really enjoy outings with my buddies.

ok this is whats up and mabye if you people would stop tearing up the golf coasre we could have a nice one but no there are too many people out there that just like to tear things up and, hey guy above me why dont you come out thiss weekend and your head will explode to see how nice are coarse is now and i would recomend everyone to come out an give it a try it is such a buetiful coarse now they we are done with are construction of the coarse
thank you

I am a member at the course. I love the course and enjoy the members and course personnel. I would like to see the water jugs out a little earlier on the days I play. They don't get put out until well past 9am. No ice chests on the course and no water jugs equal very hot and dry conditions. I play with the seniors. Thanks

please ignore Goodnewsdoc's novel, he has obviously never played here. this course owns! i shot a 67 here, i am the best golfer alive
