Spring Valley Golf Club, Lexington, KY

Very nice course in great condition. I liked the rectangular greens and bunkers which give an old-timey look. The course allows limited outside play. Another bonus: Ben Hogan and Gay Brewer played there.

I am obviously partial to the club because I am a member. But everyone that loves the game needs a home course. SVGC gets it right year after year for me and many of my friends. The course is a traditional layout, renovated for the modern game. Everything from the greens and fairways to the grand old clubhouse is maintained to a high standard by the family that acquired the course way back in 1959. There are quite a few other club options in Central KY but the avid community of players, pace of play and the value I get keeps me right here. P.S. My rating does not really tell the whole story because there are so many other good reasons to join a club and stay put.
