My husband and I had just arrived in Phoenix on business and ventured out one afternoon to find a course. We arrived at this course around 2:30 pm and was told that we couldn''t play 18 because they closed at 6 pm. Since it was late May and not dark til 8 pm we were confused. We asked if we could play 9 holes and the girl working there told us they didn''t have a 9 hole rate. What? We asked her exactly what the problem was. She told us that we could play for the 18 hole rate and she would give us the cart but, we had better be back by 6 because she wanted to close up and get out of there because the area was so bad. We had already given her our money so we headed out with a great deal of hesitation. The course is poorly cared for and porrly marked. Looks like it was built in the 50s or 60s and nothing has been done since. We played about 9 holes and figured we would leave so the girl working there could go home safely but, there were a lot of people still on the course including the young man that had been in the clubhouse with her when we arrived. AND HE WAS BEHIND US. I felt like that it was either a very dangerous neighborhood and she was scared or she just wanted rid of us so she could close early. Maybe both. The point is this: there are many, many, many nice courses in Phoenix so avoid this one at all costs. If this is the only one you can find then you be best to sell your clubs and take up another sport. Awful place. There are courses in the Sun Lakes area that you can play for as little as 10 dollars in the summer and they are very nice and in a very nice area. Seriously, go anywhere by Maryvale.
