Crab Orchard Golf Club, Carterville, IL

One the most consistently good golf courses in the area. Greens may be the best in southern IL. Most aspects of the course are good, well maintained, friendly staff. As others have noted, some par 4s are redundant, especially on the front 9, as they are relatively straight, narrow, tree-lined holes. But overall, very good golf course for the money.

Course is in impeccable condition - greens roll true, fairways and tee boxes are lush. The greens are on the small side and feature very subtle breaks, not the easiest to hit or read once you're on. The only negative is that several of the par 4 holes are redundant: you'll play several straight tree-lined alleys with nothing special about them. However, it is a fun course with a good pace of play and friendly natives. The low price makes it a terrific value.

Great course, very well maintained, very friendly staff, great driving range and restaurant too. Only down side is a couple of the tee boxes are a little uneven, but dont let that stop you from playing here.
