Sea Island Golf Club

Played May 17, 2009 9 am tee-time.
Paid $315.00 for a course that was simple in design and hardly a challenge. The staff was rude at check-in as thought they couldn’t be bothered. I stayed at the Beach Club, rode the shuttle to the course about 10 minutes away and arrived for my tee-time as a single. Was grouped with three other players and went to find my cart and rental clubs. The starter seems put out when I asked him where my rental set and where the range were. After finding the range I asked where the first tee and my pairings were. He pointed in the general direction where it took me 10 minutes of driving to find the first tee-no signage whatsoever. Turns out the threesome never checked in and I waited for my caddie. After another 10 minutes I drove back to the clubhouse and asked where my caddie was. They acted like I was bothering them again and called out a caddie who finally arrived and off we went. The course while in good shape was not challenge at all. I'm a 10 handicap and shot a 79 with rental clubs. WAY over priced for the experience and would recommend either finding another course or saving your money. By the way this is not a sea-side course; there are no views of the ocean only a couple holes 200 yards from a dirty river.

My family and I stayed at Sea Island and the Clositer for five nights over Christmas week in 2007 and I played the Seaside Course with my father. The course is just about perfect. The facilities are top of their class and the staff is very fun to be around. The Seaside course is their flagship course and it was in perfect condition and the views are just fantastic. While it certainly is a difficult course it's not as difficult as other ocean side courses like Kiawah or some in Florida, which these are the courses that I would give 5 stars for in the difficulty rating. Although sometimes those courses are so difficult their just not enjoyable and while I love a challenge I also want to have fun if I'm paying $230 for a round like it was at the Seaside course. So if you are going to be at Sea Island the Seaside course is worth the little bit extra to play over their two other courses. Whenever I go back I will certainly tee it up there again. I'm a 12 handicap and really enjoyed this par 70 gem.

One of the best in the US, this course winds through the marshes and sand dunes. The course is in perfect condition and the greens are lightening fast. They fall of on all sides and will really test your short game. If you can't chip or putt, you better pray you don't shoot 150.
