The 9-hole "Centennial" course at the Centennial Park Golf Course facility in Munster, Indiana features 3,300 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. Designed by Timothy P. Nugent, ASGCA, the Centennial golf course opened in 2009.
It looks like this was a nice course at one point. The routing is wonderful, the elevation changes are rare for the area. The strategically placed bunkers, contoured greens, and bent grass lined with heavy fescue give a feel of a much nicer course.Unfortunately, that is all lost thanks to terrible maintenance. There were bare spots on most fairways, some of them fairly sizable with cart tracks going through them. Some of them are labeled, but the course would be unplayable if they all were. Nearly every single putt bounced, as the greens were in terrible shape. I knew the course was on a former landfill, and for the most part you'd never know, but tires were piled on the side of one hole.If the entire maintenance staff is turned over, this course could be worth playing. It has alot of potential, and considering what it had been, even a poorly maintained golf course is good use of the land. But in this condition, even the low rates they charge may be too much.
Very Tight Fairways. TALL Fescue everywhere. Fast Greens a hearty challenge.
