The 18-hole "Teton Reserve" course at the Teton Reserve facility in Victor, Idaho features 7,426 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Hale Irwin, the Teton Reserve golf course opened in 2008.
Interesting course! Designed by Hale Irwin. The course is really not walkable. If a permanent clubhouse is ever constructed in the middle of the course that will help. There are some long treks between Greens and Tees. We play a lot and only ride 2-5 times a year. We saw a coupla brave souls walking. Besides long, being a resort course, there were many many singles and twosomes that would run over the walkers. There are 4 sets of tees that will accommodate most everyone. If you really don't play golf then don't play here, it's not for new golfers. The tee markers are very odd, they are black balls that don't show off the color with exception of a thin ring around the equator. I struggled all day finding the gold tees. The gold were the 3rd set back. I did better looking for the back tees then moving forward one. This did not always work as some tees were offset. The greens: for a high mountain course this was a huge surprise as they were superb. The ball tracked perfectly. The greens are undulated and tiered, so reading was the main issue.Fairways: they were very wet when we played, 10 AM to 2 PM. The course never did dry out. This would add to walking difficulties and affected the length of shots,(no roll)!Sand....ugh! There is tons of it, fairways and greenside. It was wet so a problem to hit out of.Design and Playability: overall it was very fun! I think raised greens are unnecessary and detracted from the playability, especially on a wet course. Most holes were different, no copies. Visually it was hard to know where to hit it. We had problems and pretty much just tried to split the fairway bunkers and call it, good! The setting for this course is awesome, Tetons and all.Problems: although not a major thing, we were charged $20 each for the cart or $40 total for the 2 of us. I think this is excessive but not unaffordable. Greens fees on Labor Day weekend (Saturday)were $29.00.Finally, if the economy ever recovers and this develops into the resort area they thought it would be, many will enjoy this course. If not, it will be one of those "Gems-in-the-Rough". We will go back and play it again. LOL! I may try to make a better deal on the cart over the phone before I go. Lots of fun and glad we went. FYI, I am a 12-14 handicap and shot 97 from the gold tees (6900+ yards). Next time I will move up one more set of tees. Try it if your in Victor :-)Greens and Fairways
Good course for the value 18 holes for $25 fairly nice course with good views of the Tetons, greens need some work and so do the fairways. The only downside is that it is in a resort that wasn't finished and never took off so there are about 10 condos on the course. On the score card it says that it is the only course in the world that can be played in four different directions.
