My wife and I were in the area to celebrate her 40th High School Reunion and she had arranged for me to play golf with a couple of her former classmates and one of their sons. The round of golf played at Dogwood Trace was the highlight of the weekend for me!

This course is a diamond in the rough (no pun is intended).

Don''t be fooled by the condition of the parking lot (some of it is unpaved, rocky, and shared with the community pool). Don''t let the clubhouse fool you (it''s only a trailer, but the folks inside are a pleasure to spend time with … nothing like the municipal employees you hear so much negative press about). The last time I checked, you don''t play golf in parking lots or clubhouses, so they don’t count much to me.

The town put their money where it would do the most good; out on the course. This is one of the nicest municipal courses you''ll ever play. The fairways are well maintained, the rough isn''t unfair, and the greens are the most-receptive, best rolling greens I''ve played in many, many years. I don''t know what makes the greens the quality they are; maybe the sand base, the grass, the maintenance, or all of the above, but they''re 5-star in my book.

I was fortunate to play with 3 golfers who played the course before its recent redesign and they were amazed by the quality the course presented. The layout offers a great challenge on a minimum amount of land without having tight fairways or greens. There are a few water features blended in, but nothing to scare the mid- to high-handicappers.

Senior discount kicks in at 60-years-old, so the round w/cart ran $29 … in the Summer!

I can’t wait for my bride’s next reunion so I can get to the area and play this track again!

I read the previous review from June 2, 2008, and I can only guess that there was a lot of work done to the course in the past year.

I loved lee park for a cheap round. Dogwood Trace could be a great little course but it needs more work. For $49 you can find a much better course
