The 9-hole "Grizzly" course at the Bear Trap Dunes facility in Ocean View, Delaware features 3,441 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. Designed by Richard Jacobson, ASGCA, the Grizzly golf course opened in 1999.
My friend John and I played Grizzley-Kodiak on 03/15/11. The course was in fine shape for the time of year and we really enjoyed ourselves. The feel here is very "linksey", with tall fescue and clumped pampas grass. Fortunately for us, that stuff hadn't grown up yet this early in the season and our misses were more recoverable. There are quite a few home-sites along the margins of the course, but the houses never really seemed in play. If I had to make one critique, it would be that there are BIG yardage differences between the white and blue tees. The whites felt a little short for us and the blues a little long. The wind blows alot here, so maybe they figure that's a mitigating factor. The carts were electric and well maintained. You would expect a course of this caliber (and price) to have g.p.s. on their carts, but luckily, we had our own. All in all it was a nice experience and we breezed through 18 in 3.5 hrs. flat.
