Barren, hilly and windy – Yes. Scotland – No.Overhyped and overpriced, but still an enjoyable (if you play at a discount) destination for mid- and high-handicappers. Low-handicappers may feel under- challenged due to several short par 4s and a hole or two that would benefit from redesign. A few forced carry tee shots and water on several holes make the round interesting. Fescue (mowed during my visit) is present nearly everywhere, but should impact only the most errant of shots.Despite the portrayal, this is by no means a Ritz-style resort course. There are limited amenities both on- (no cart GPS) and off-course, although the practice range is included in the fee. Service is professional and courteous, but isn’t more present than at most munis. Course conditioning was poor, especially early in the season. Speed of play should increase with the new 90-degree cart fairway crossing rule. A solid 1 ¼ hour drive from Manhattan with no traffic, it’s a course worth a visit only if you’re in the neighborhood.

Played early september. Course was in great shape. A challenging course with lots of risk/reward opportunities. Go for the twilight rate at about $60 including a cart. Course is cart path only. Add that to links style tall grass, and it can make for a very slow round. Come expecting a 5 hour round and enjoy the beautiful scenery while you wait for your next shot.

played the first week in august. our tee time was at 2:20 meaning 65 for 18 holes plus a cart. a great deal. the course included some very memorable holes. lot of water and finding it wasnt very fun. fairways were very nice. Because it is cart path only it took alot longer. it was an adventure to walk from the cartpath to the other fairway to go find your ball. the greens for the exception of the first one (that was burnt out and the pin wasnt where it was suposed to be due to that) rolled true. some tee boxes were not in good shape. it rained the day before and some of the drainage was a bit poor. also some bunkers were not in the best shape. overall if your in the area play twilight after to. the setup is great and allows you to try and score. i would return and recomend it
