Nice course with some tough holes but an overall good experience. The greens could be kept in better shape but I imagine the course gets a lot of play. I’d like to see yard marker stakes that are visible because it’s sometimes hard to locate the in ground markers. There were some hazardous areas on the course (hard to see open holes) that could break someone’s ankle if the step wrong. Overall I think it’s a fair value.

I have been golfing here for 10+ years. It's always something at this course. They have no driving range which means no lessons which means no pro which means no one really cares or has the skills. Last 2 months the greens are so spongy footprints last and ball marks take many weeks, if ever, to heal. Can't understand why they can't get the greens better when Falls Village right down the street, with the same weather condition has firm and true greens. Approach shot at Falls barely leaves a pitch mark. Here is what the USGA says

"If core cultivation and thatch reduction tactics are forgone or are significantly reduced, the putting surfaces will be slow, spongy, and not roll true."

Crossing does plug the greens but trust me saying you plug is like saying you cook. There are good and bad.

Love the layout. You'll use every club in your bag and the back is tough! I understand they probably don't have the money to make the traps good but why are there almost no working ball washers? The washer on 12 has been broken for over a year. They could buy a used ball washer on eBay for less than what they charge for 18 holes. Others don't even have water in them going back 3 months. Great layout but the course is consistently under potential.

i will say the hole previews on their website and some positive reviews online was what had drawn me to this course. What either did not mention was the power lines running through the whole course that took away from the aesthetic. The houses not so much as i do not remember many although being in a residential neighborhood. This course was very difficult at times. Not the longest course at around 6500 yards but some holes were very narrow with difficult tee shots and that Bermuda rough. I remember the downhill par 5 11th. A tough drive and unless you place a huge fade down the left side of this tight fairway you are not getting home in 2 b/c of a hazard in front of the green. A few scoring chances early but it gets hardest as you go along. The greens were aerated the week before and were healing but holes were still noticeable. Also a bunch of them were just in awful shape with dead spots all over. The speed was nice and undulation was tricky but that was about it. A lot of throw away holes. I probably would not play here again. Plenty of better courses i have not played in the area.

Nice course and very pleasant staff. Great snack bar and pro shop. The course was a pleasure the play and had some very difficult challenges. I found the price reasonable during the week but wouldn't concider playing peak or weekend times. No driving range but a nice putting green. I liked the course and have played several rounds there. Very clean and well maintained for the $$$.

For my money, this is the best public course in Durham. Great layout and good conditions (the greens were shaggy when I played due to heat). Not crowded during weekdays. Afternoon specials are very reasonable and the people are nice.

Not a bad course. The greens are good and fun to put on. There are some good holes and then there are some holes that are squeezed in where there was not room. The staff was friendly. Overall I enjoyed my round but would not go out of my way to go back.

Hopefully the course will be purchased by someone who will completely redo the course. Considering the other courses in the area vying for your money I would say pass the Crossings. Several tricked up holes and homes/condos too close to the course.
