Found the course to be almost boring. Carved out of a cornfield with a scenic views of more cornfields and the Big House in the distance, Stateville prison, home to Joliet Jake. Par 3''s were almost cookie cutter one to the next and lacked any imagination or variety. Being a cornfield in a previous life, lacked any defined elevation changes. Played on a weekend and the pace of play was OK. Actually poor for how busy it was. I was able to get a round in under 4 hrs. Lucky considering the other posts. The caliber of play here and in some of the other surrounding muni''s is about the same, bring a helmet.Bev cart service was scarce, pro shop stocked with the usual items. Ajoining resturaut features typical bar food fare. For the quality of play, I find the course to be overpriced compared to other courses in the area. Several other better courses within a short drive of here. If you have to play here, try catching it on a weekday or at twilight.

The course layout is ok. The staff really don't care about the public and the cost of golf is way over priced. this is a park course that should be no more than $50 on the weekends. I highly would not recommend.

I had the pleasure of playing this course on a Friday afternoon, while visiting from Philadelphia, Pa. I found the staff to be very pleasant and accommodating. I played this links style course on a day with a light breeze, and the course played easy and relaxing. I believe this course would play harder if the winds where up even slightly. The course was well maintained and generally in excellent condition. The greens rolled extremely true and where well maintained. The fairways where wide and well marked for yardage, the roughs where lower than expected and generous, especially for a links course. Tee boxes and traps where very well maintained. My only complaint would be that the local golfer, the groups we played behind had little respect for fellow golfers and often hit multiple balls and practice putts, in addition to spending long periods searching for lost balls in deep prairie grass beyond the already generous rough, which slowed play. I think the rangers should enforce and the players need to respect the rules of golf etiquette. This would allow a better pace of play and provide a very nice experience for everyone. We played the front nine in just under 2 hours while the back night played in 2 ½ hours, more due the groups in front, rather than the course layout. We could have easily played this course in less than 4 hours, on a Friday afternoon if the golfers would have followed golf etiquette and showed the proper respect for the game and fellow golfers.
