The 18-hole "Stone Mountain" course at the Stone Mountain Golf Resort facility in Traphill, North Carolina features 5,319 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Robert Nixon, the Stone Mountain golf course opened in 1991.
Course was in great shape for March in the mountains. A few greens were a little sandy, but no other issues. It had been wet, and the course drained well. It is a mountain course, so know +/- clubs for uphill and downhill shots, some holes rise or fall over 100 feet tee to green. Great value! Staff was friendly and professional. Freely shared tips about the course and how to play it.
Excellent course for the money. Owner is very professional yet good with people and younger golfers. The staff is top notch. The green and cart fee rate is outstanding. They offer good tournaments for those more experienced to showcase their skills and win some money while having fun golfing on the weekends. The greens and fairways are in pristine shape. Love playing here. Fairways are tight so best hit it straight or it'll be a long day ahead. Keeping your composure will greatly improve your round score. Trust me, I know first hand.
Played this course for the first time. Outstanding course. Great value. We played on a Tuesday and had the whole course to our self. Not what I'd call a beginner course. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I'll be going back for sure.
The fairways are typcial public course quality. The greens are as good, if not better than any private country club. What makes this place so special is the value. 18 holes for $22 on perfect greens...not a bad spot anywhere. The view of the mountain range extends not only from the clubhouse but from throughout the course as well. It's a drive out to the middle of nowhere, but if you've got a day to spend here, do it. It is worth every penny.
This is a wonderful course that you can not beat for the price. The maintenance of this course is better than a lot of expensive courses I have been to. The one thing that I really dont like about it is that it does not have any beverage stands ON the course you have to wait till you get back to the clubhouse which can be a real bummer during the dog days of summer. It can be a really difficult course because it is so unforgiving. If you hit a bad shot you are going to pay for it. But if you are having a decent day and hit the ball straight you can score pretty well on this course. Overall one of my favorite courses and I keep coming back.
Played this course on 06/26/10 and boy all I can say is the greens are the some of the best greens you will ever putt on. The course plays to 5074 yd par 70 w/ rating of 66.2 slope of 119. Even though it is short it plays about 500 yds longer with many elevated greens with some being very difficult to putt. The front nine is tighter off the tee with the back nine a little more forgiving. Needless to say the greens are the star on this well maintained golf course. I played 36 in one day with 18 hole times of 3 hours and still wanted to play more as this is a very fun course to play. Overall one the best values in mountain golf with a very friendly staff.
