Understand this when you make the trip to Blackthorn, don't be on a budget. The course is overly priced compared to many of the other local South Bend courses. Though the amentities are outstanding, with two sets of grass tees on the driving range. There is also a fantastic short game area. If you like spending $7 on a bucket of balls, go for it. The course can be long and difficult, depending on the tee choice. The fairways are consistent while the greens are not. An infestation of poa-annua with bent grass greens make an inconsistent putting service as well as not being very pleasing to the eye. For the $60 + for a summer weekend rate, I would take the 10 minute drive west to Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course, which for a similar fee is FANTASTIC and worth every penny. There are many courses located within 15 miles of Blackthorn that are equally as nice and priced about $20 - $40 cheaper. Check out the other South Bend owned courses (Elbel, Erskine) which are more fun to play and less strenuous on the wallet.

Very pretty course. A lot of fun, very playable holes. Not the most difficult of courses but a great time playing.
