Since I moved to the Myrtle Beech area I have been playing courses in North Myrtle Beach. This is one of the best tracks in the Myrtle Beech area, so I have been told. After playing with 23 other friends from S.E Penna we all agreed that this was one of the best courses we ever booked. Unfortunately everyone agreed that it was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences we have had on our golf package trips. We did show up right at our scheduled tee time and you might have thought we broke a golden rule of golf. we were rushed out onto the course in the FOG at different hole locations to start our round. My group started on 2 (par 5)and we finished it at 7.51 am. Our tee times were from 7.30 to 7.48. so really how late were we. 4-6 minutes. at the 10th hole we found ourselves behind golfers starting on the back 9. That is were the round really slowed down. None of our 24 man group was able to play all 18 holes. Everyone agreed to play only up North Myrtle Beech area in the future were they recognize the value of a customer.
I love this course. I put it in my top 10, probably top 5 I have ever played. It's just such a great, well thought out layout. If you are a high handicaper, it is not too difficult. If you are a low handicapper and go all the way back, you can still be challengd. Many of the holes have good risk/reward decisions to make. It has always been in very good shape when I have played. Pulling in and driving under the oaks covered with Spanish moss is a treat too. The back deck overlooking 18 is a great spot to hang out after a round. No homes on the course is just great. Many memorable holes.I do have one complaint. The ninth hole just seems forced, like it was an afterthought. For such a nice course, it just seems odd to turn the corner on a little rinky dink 90-100 yard par 3. If they could ever find a way to change that (I forget if there is room), I think it would be an improvement.
