Roebuck Hawkins golf course is a good example of a classic muni golf course (and is still stuck back in time.) Don’t let that put you off playing this little gem of a course.

You’ll enjoy plenty of things about this course. One of the best is the amazing pace of play. It’s actually possible to finish a round of 18 in under 3 hours (which is hard to find.) With that being said, it’s a popular course and it can get crowded on the weekend. The price is also excellent for what you get - it’s $30 for a round of 18-holes with a cart or $20 for 18 holes walking.

This course isn’t overly challenging, but it’s still fun to play. Watch out for the tight fairways and large. trees! There are 3 tee boxes and the course is on the longer side at 6,509 yards. With that being said, the pace of play is still solid and you aren’t likely to get completely stuck on any of these holes. There’s also a nice creek running through the course.

Here’s a few things that you’ll want to keep your eyes open for. Hole #10 is a completely blind shot over a bunch of trees (make sure to aim straight.) Hole #11 is a blind shot that doglegs right and hole #12 is a blind shot that doglegs left. The fairways are straight for the most part, and you’ll often be hitting directly over trees.

The course offers just the basics for amenities, but you can get a 6-pack of beer with ice and a cooler provided by the course. You also don’t need a tee time and can just show up and play (otherwise it’s a short wait.) This course is definitely walkable, and it offers a good pace of play and good value. It’s not in the best neighborhood, so you won’t want to linger around after dark. Roebuck offers a classic, laid back golf experience. It’s worth a regular visit in your golf schedule.

I love this course. It is such a great value and very well maintained. I play there a couple of times a month with my dad and brother and always have a great time. It's an easy course to walk and you can get in a round pretty fast here; just not on the weekend, because apparently everyone has realized that it's a great course for a great value. Go during the week. Try it out...you won't be disapointed.
