Palisades--Keep an eye on this course

Played Palisades this past week on a golf journey from Minnesotaways.

The Palisades course is a course designed in the early 90's and has seen some decline. The entire course could use some TLC not that it is shabby but you can tell it seems like an upgrade could be used. The layout of the course is good and the word is there is a new management company taking over the course. The greens were in fair condition and the staff was very friendly.

As a value the course was $40.00, which I think is good for this course. The carts were in very good condition and the clubhouse was a 5. Check it out after your round. Scenery was good on some holes as the course is in the Lake County. If you have an objection of uphill holes this may cause you a few problems as there were several holes that don't look bad on the scorecard but quite difficult.

I think this course will be on the upswing at should be on your list of places to play if you are looking at courses in the mid 40 dollar range.

I,ve played this course on and off since 1998. At that time it was one of the most beautiful courses I had ever seen in person or otherwise. In fact, I used to get sort of excited when I knew I would get a chance to play. Then came the drought and serious watering restrictions, new management(or lack thereof), and it has been in decline ever since. Now it is in the worst condition I have ever seen. The driving range was completely dry and had no grass and the practice green wasn't. And it just got worse from there. I would almost call it unplayable unless you like hardpan and weeds. Even the cart I was given needed some help. I hate to say it but it is not even a shadow of what it once was, except for the great layout. Unless someone is willing to invest serious capitol for a total renovation I feel dreadfully that it should be closed. Considering the charge to play was $30 at 2:00pm I won't be going back. What a shame...

I’ve been playing golf at Palisades since 2003 and it was always the best deal for the dollar anywhere in the Orlando area. I mean great views, wonderful layout, good food, truly a wonderful place to play golf. I played there today (05-25-2009) for the first time since 2007 and I was devastated. The fairways are almost gone. They are only watering the greens and letting everything else waste away. The recession obviously has taken it’s toll here and it’s very sad. I asked a few of the workers if the course was closing and they said no, and that they were just having an irrigation problem. They’re having problems alright, the course is unplayable. I hope when the recession eases, more money becomes available so they can restore this course to it’s former glory.

I played Palisades last Saturday. The course is in great condition. What a great course and layout! I had a lot of fun, I loved the elevation changes and rolling fairways, not something you normally see in florida. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were nice and all in good shape! I can't believe it was less then 25 bucks for the summer rates. I'm also glad they have a driving range, was nice to hit a few balls before my round. The restaurant/bar service was very good and has a super cool view of the 9th hole and a big Lake. I definately will be back!

very fun, challenging, pretty and great value all in one - will definitely play again. interesting mix of holes, hills, risk, reward. fun course for sure.

revised: play this in June 08 and it looked like they simply stopped spending $$ on it - real shame as the layout is very fun. i hope someeone chimes in that they got new ownership . . . the greens were wasting away June 08,

Marked improvement, the course is very much improved over last summer when I played. Greens are over-seeded and in good shape, fairways have filled in and turf condition is good. Tees are over-seeded and very good. Green fees are still at summer rates and very affordable. $32.00 for green fee and cart is unbelieveable price. Give it a try.

The new owner has put a lot of money and time into bringing this course back to it's former glory.
It is in great shape and getting better by the month.
The people are friendly, the course has great scenery, will certainly challenge your golf game and is great value.
It is very well worth a visit.
Keep up the good work!

The course was kind of dry especially the rough. But other than that the course was great rolling hills beautiful lake views and nice managment.
