We moved to S.C. 3 years ago and discovered the Timberlake Golf and Lake Community in Chapin. We loved the area and especially the fact that the golf course was built around Lake Murray. In fact it's the only golf course that's situated on the lake. As the golf course was previously owned by a developer that obviously used his monies for other than improving the course, it is now owned by the members as an equity ownership since May of 2008. After many hours of "Sweat Equity" from the volunteers and new money spent wisely,we now enjoy playing on a beautifully designed and manicured golf course. We're very proud of the improvements ,and anxious and looking forward to seeing the newly constructed club house, pool and tennis courts , which will be open by September 2009. The course is very challenging enough for the lower handicap player but not too difficult for the higher handicap golfer. It's also lady friendly and we're so looking forward to having future tournaments and special events at the club house.

We just moved to the area and heard this course was not so great. Wrong!!! The course was awesome, one of the most challenging we've played in a long time (former Virginia and Florida golfers). Many holes follow the shores of Lake Murray with spectacular views. I believe you could play this course 50 times and get a different experience each time. I highly recommend this course. The residents recently bought the club and have been working hard to get the course in shape. In addition they are building a beautiful new clubhouse with all the bells and whistles which is scheduled to open in September 2009. If you ignore the state of the current club-house you can see the potential for the facility, I believe this place is going to be one of the top clubs in the area soon.

The course is in good shape for the Columbia area. It is much better than previous years and really making strides with the potential to become a great course in the area. Fairways are good and very playable with some minor weed issues and moderate wet areas even after several dry days. Greens are soft and hold but a bit sandy and slow, but provide fair rolls. The layout provides for a fun all around round with driver and 3 wood off of the tees. The pace of play is excellent and worth playing if you are trying to stay away from a 5 hour round on Friday's and Saturday's.

This course has more potential than any in the area. A wide variation of holes and you will play most every club in your bag. Lots of difficulty and lots of lost balls unless you keep it in play.
The course is a goat patch. It doesn't get the up keep and maintenance it needs. The clubhouse is a joke. No cart girls, only sandwiches IF the snackbar happens to open. Avoid this course as it's expensive and run down.

Has the potential to be a great course, played in mid March and the fairways are starting to come in. Greens is very good shape. Great views of the lake, several holes around inlets on Lake Murray. Friendly staff and members that I joined for my round. I look forward to playing again when the fairways come in.

Course is in pretty good shape, pro shop is a little light in the amenities, but that could be because they are waiting for the new clubhouse.
