The City of Odessa assumed ownership of the course back in 2006 and closed the course for repairs. The most dramatic change is in the fairway grass which is plush where before it was minimal and compacted. Distance off the tees is what you carry with your drives there is little roll. Some changes were made on certain greens, bunkers were shortened or removed. Water comes into play on the back nine on #'s 11,12 and 18. Greens putt true with lots of undulations (on certain pin placements) speed is medium fast to fast. The course re-opened Sept. 2008. Walking is easy on your feet. Thick rough 2" to 4" deep be prepared to play out of it. The club house was re-done, it has a great bar and grill and a patio was build overlooking the 18 green and fairway. A great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the beverage of choice. Music is on all the time and they have live bands in the evenings from time to time. I highly recommend this course, come and play you'll enjoy it.
