Maplewood Golf Course in Renton, Washington, is a charming municipal course owned and operated by the city of Renton, just 21 minutes from Seattle. The 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches 6,112 yards from the blue tees, and also offers white (5,698) and red (5,115) tees for golfers looking for a shorter loop. The course has earned high praise, collecting four consecutive “Best Public Golf Course” nods from the South County Journal while offering excellent greens. If you head into Maplewood Golf Course with your wedges and short game dialed in, you have a chance to turn in a low score. Four front-nine par-4s measure 310 yards or less from the white tees, leaving plenty of opportunity for appetizing birdie putts if you can avoid the numerous bunkers, penalty areas, and out-of-bounds stakes. Weekday green fees at Maplewood run $41 for 18 holes, but juniors with a paid adult can play for just $5. The facility includes a driving range with 30 covered, lighted, and heated hitting bays where the professional staff offers lessons.
