This is one of the best designed courses that I have played in Virginia or anywhere. You can use every club in your bag. Members told me that the course is in the best shape it has seen in the last 20 years. Fairways are full and the greens roll true. Water comes into play on 8 of the holes and a number of 'risk-reward' shots are available. Rates are lower than comparable courses in the area and their memberships are quite a bargain.Driving distance is only 20 minutes from Pantops in Charlottesville. My group plans to make the Lake a regular weekly visit.ps. don't know what EC the ace was looking at but Lake Monticello's web site clearly shows the rates for both green fees and golf cars as being separate.

Bring $Course was not easy to get to. Prices were high. I checked a website prior to going to this course and saw $25 listed as the greens fee which was the reason we decided to play this course and there were indications that this included a cart. Nope. The greens fee was for guests (since I am not a member) were $27 and the cart rental was an additional $18 for a total of $45. (FYI - same website had fees listed for other courses that were precise.)
