Looking to play a great round of golf without breaking your budget? Look no further than Lombard Golf Course, located within the Lombard Park District and just 25 miles west of Chicago.

The nine-hole, par-35 golf course is laid out over 3,051 yards and offers a nice challenge but not so much that the average golfer is turned off from playing. Most of the fairways are a straight shot off the tee – only the par-4, 253-yard ninth hole has much of a dog leg -- which makes going all out on your drive a fun risk worth taking.

Both of the par-3 holes on the course are a little tricky, especially the 219-yard third hole which requires you to carry the water to a tight green with bunkers on each side. While the third hole is the only that plays over water, several other holes are bordered by streams along the fairway.

The only par-5 is the seventh hole, a 476-yard straight shot with a green that is certainly reachable in two. Play this hole wisely and you could be putting for eagle.

Any concerns of poor draining or high grass are a thing of this past as Lombard is now a very well-maintained course with velvety greens worthy of country club status.

The staff at Lombard is friendly and helpful whether you are looking to hit balls at the driving range or play a round of golf with family and friends. Tee times are never scheduled less than 10 minutes apart so younger and beginner golfers won't feel pressured to hit faster than they are comfortable playing.

Carts are available for single or double riders. All carts are cleaned thoroughly before and after use.

Given the excellent condition of the course, the green fees are very reasonable. Residents of Lombard receive a discount and keep your eyes open for other specials. Play Monday through Thursday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and pay just $10.

Reservations are required to play Lombard Golf Course and hours were recently updated for the fall season. It is certainly a course worth checking out.

Really easy course. I think there is one hole that is not straight on. For whatever reason it is expensive to play for a 9 hole course. Not really worth the money unless it is before they raise the rates early in the year. Good for beginers and as a warmup early in the year
