This course has gone thru a Metamorphosis. The ugly duckling is becoming an elegant and gracious swan. The Layout or Track has always been solid with old growth trees present but not invasive. Tee shots must not only find the new fairways but must find the appropriate spot in the fairway for a fair approach to small and well defended green. Bunkers and Water Hazards stand and sentries on approach. The new green are every bit as good as the nearby Jackson Country Club or the ubiquitous Memphis Country Club. These are not the “Champion Bermuda” of the afore mentioned clubs TiffEagle the trick is in the cultural practices. The roll as true as any greens I’ve ever played very similar to Bent. They can be as fast as any course and survive the West TN summers, but they are kept at a manageable pace for the average golfer.The new bunkers compliment the new greens perfectly. There are still some rough spots but they are making strides daily. Most notably in the unplayable areas and around the water hazards and ditches, but these are typically diffiult areas to maintain in the south.The weakest area is of course the club house which looks more like a Frat House, but now is not the ime to take on that challenge and they know it. Grandious Club Houses have sunk more than a few excellent country clubs in the last few years.Well worth the try and well worth my new membership. Formally member at Jackson Country Club.
