Palm Valley Golf Course

Located in Summerlin, about a 25-minute ride from the Strip in Las Vegas, Palm Valley offers a uniquely satisfying golfing experience. The course is beautifully maintained and it offers the golfer scenic views not found at most other golf courses in the area. The greens fees for people from out of state are $100, a far cry from those charged by clubs offering a lesser experience.

History

Palm Valley Golf Course opened in 1989, the first and most difficult of three courses to be built in the Dell Webb community of Summerlin. Unlike so many courses in Las Vegas where an errant shot will end up in the desert, at Palm Valley there's grass just about everywhere. As the club's Tournament Director Paul Brown says, "It's not target golf in that it's very forgiving. If you hit the ball off target, you're still in some kind of green grass."

Geography

Palm Valley measures almost 6,600 yards and it is a par-72. You'd better warm up because you will open your round with a long par-5. The course contains four par-5 holes, four par-3s and the remaining are par-4's. With a premium on variety, you will hit every club in your bag at Palm Valley. As it starts, your round will end with a par-5, a 534-yard dogleg with a fairway made narrow by out-of-bounds on the left and water on the right. As you reach the green, there are bunkers guarding it on both the left and right .

Features

Before you play this remarkable course, warm up in the practice area that's complete with 15 tees. Following your round, you can "trade lies" at the Vista Grill as you enjoy a libation and one of the many specially prepared dishes on the menu. You can even try your luck at the slot machines that adjoin the dining area. In addition, the golf shop at Palm Valley offers everything you'll need to make your round special.

Facts

Palm Valley Golf Course is one of three courses built in Summerlin during the past 20 years. Because of its high quality, it is one of the most popular golf courses in the Las Vegas area, so you are encouraged to make your reservation well in advance.
