Palm Springs Golf Courses

Palm Springs is one of the premier golfing areas in the country. The ideal weather makes it viable for golfers all year long, and there are more than 100 courses in the area. There are championship courses for top pros and elite amateurs as well as executive courses that are somewhat easier for new golfers. Whatever your ability level is, you can find the right courses in Palm Springs.

Step 1: Try the Indian Springs Golf Course in Indio, California for a great challenge and beauty on every hole. This is one of the most beautiful public courses in the area, and a $99 green fee will also get you the use of a cart for the full 18 holes. This 6,404-yard, par-72 course is a real challenge for any golfer. Length is not a big issue on this course, but a golfer must be quite accurate to have a decent score.

Step 2: For sheer beauty and elegance, it's hard to top the Indian Wells Golf Resort. This resort is the home of the popular Skins Game, and both of its courses are rated among the top 20 golf courses in California. The Players' course is a bit tougher than the Celebrity Course, although both are challenging. The unforgiving bunkers of the Players' Course need to be taken into account before choosing which course to play.

Step 3: Desert Dunes Golf Course in Desert Hot Springs, California is a golfing jewel. It is another gorgeous Palm Springs area course that is also quite fair for average golfers. The fairway bunkers are tough but can be avoided. The course is in immaculate condition and the scenery is outstanding. Best of all, play moves very quickly. Golfers can get through 18 holes in less than 3 1/2 hours on a regular basis.

Step 4: Try the Canyon Country Club for a major challenge. The scenery and the views are amazing to any golfer, but the course is difficult and can punish a golfer for errant shot. With a very fair $100 fee for a round of 18 holes that includes a cart, Canyon Country Club leaves a golfer feeling quite proud after finishing a round that is tough and challenging.
