Wildhorse Golf Course is located in Henderson, Nevada, and is a favorite of local golfers. For that reason, it is imperative for you to book your tee time as far in advance as possible. The rates vary from $49 to $95, depending on the time of day you play and the season of the year.

History

Wildhorse Golf Course was built in 1959 and was known as Paradise Valley Country Club until 25 years later, when it was renamed and redesigned by world-famous golf course architects Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt. The former PGA tour stop is a public golf course and is just a 25-mile drive from the Las Vegas Strip.

Features

Vegas Golfer Magazine voted the 398-yard 18th hole the toughest hole in the Las Vegas area. Once you conquer that, a clubhouse awaits you, along with a lighted practice facility, snack bar and a full-service restaurant. You can also take lessons from PGA professionals at the Wildhorse Academy.

Facts

Recently, the Wildhorse Golf Course was chosen by "Golf Digest" as one of the best places to play in America. In addition, it was chosen by AOLCityguide.com as best golf course in Las Vegas, and "Bridal Spectacular" voted it "best in show" for its design. Finally, Wildhorse Golf Course was formerly an annual stop on the PGA tour.

Geography

Hundreds of trees abound on Wildhorse Golf Course's meticulously groomed fairways and around the azure-blue lakes that dot the entire property. In fact, the 18th hole boasts five separate bodies of water, not to mention a green that is well protected by sand traps. Off the course, you'll find a sizeable and lighted practice area where you can take lessons from one of the professionals from the Wildhorse Golf Academy.

Expert Insight

You had best bring your "A-Game" to play this wonderful golf course, as it is recognized as one of the most difficult in the Las Vegas area. Being a half-century old, Wildhorse Golf Course is a mature facility with tall trees that surround the fairways. Although it is only about 6,500 yards from the back tees, it will give even the most accomplished player a challenge.

Choose the Putter Designed for Your Golf Game
by Staff
If you've ever been humbled after having your stroke analyzed at one of those high-tech putting studios, you know why the adage "feel is not real" is, well, real. After all, when examined under a microscope, all the flaws of your stroke are magnified. Your path goes left, your clubface is open, you hit everything off the toe--the data doesn't lie and sometimes all that bad news is enough to make you want to impale your flat stick into the monitor. What's important to keep in mind, however, is that our strokes demand specific kinds of putters.
