Wildhorse Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada, is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Wildhorse is about 10 minutes from McCarran Airport and about 15 minutes from the Las Vegas strip itself. This course that was built in 1959 and redesigned in 2004 has been recognized by Golf Digest, the Las Vegas Review Journal and the Las Vegas Life for its beauty and amenities available to its players.

Step 1: Bring your "A" game when you prepare to play Wildhorse. Water comes into play on 15 of the 18 holes and deep bunkers guard the greens on many of those holes—-as well as the three where there are no water hazards. This is a demanding course that punishes golfers who can't keep the ball in the fairway consistently. If you do manage to stay straight, your reward is another challenging shot that could land in a bunker.

Step 2: The 9th hole, a 398-yard par 4, is the signature hole at Wildhorse. A long and accurate tee shot is required, and if the golfer can manage to get over the initial water hazard and make it to the fairway, the fun continues. There are two greenside bunkers protecting the left side and another deep bunker on the right. Make it to the green and you're still not home free because the green is difficult and challenging to read.

Step 3: Perhaps the best aspect of Wildhorse is its consumer-friendly rate card. It is especially affordable for Henderson and Clark County residents. If you live in Henderson, a round of weekday golf costs $34 with the cart included. It's $46 on weekends. If you are visiting from out of state, it's still a reasonable $85 that goes up to $108 on weekends. If you are willing to wait until twilight to play, non-residents pay $56 for a round.

Step 4: Work on your game with the teaching pros at Wildhorse. It's not just the challenge of the course that's important to golfers, it's the ability to work on flaws and improve. Director of Instruction Gaylord Rhodes leads a staff of six teaching pros that will work on a student's game and help find the best swing possible. Rates start as low as $25 per hour for junior golfers and group lessons go for as low as $20 for 1 1/2 hours.

Choose the Right Wedge for Your Golf Game
by Staff
There's a reason why the distance from within 100 yards is called the scoring zone. It's the "make it or break it" area, where a great wedge shot can redeem a bad drive or poor approach to the green. Any miscue from this zone is considered an unforced error that should have been avoided (especially from the fairway). So, what's that mean? Choosing the right wedges can be the difference between one or more strokes on any given hole!
