The Legacy is located in Henderson, 25 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. Almost all golfters who have played the Legacy yearn to return again to better their score. The rates vary from $55 to $155 depending on the season and the time of day you play, and they include both a cart and range balls. The Legacy is very popular because it is one of the few links courses in western United States, so it would be wise to make reservations as early as possible.

History

The Legacy was built in 1989 under the watchful eye of Arthur Hills, the world-famous golf architect who has designed over 100 courses throughout the country. Hills' vision was to create a links-type course that would be a challenge for the best golfers in the world, but suited to the average player, as well.

Geography

The Legacy Golf Club at Green Valley is one of the true links courses in the Las Vegas area, and is a test for any golfer, regardless of ability. The Legacy's fairways meander through the well-planned Green Valley community, where you'll see breathtaking natural foliage in the desert that separates many of the Legacy's fairways.

Facts

If you are serious about improving your game, the Legacy is home to Resort Golf Schools and Academies, "Golf Magazine's" pick as one of the top 25 golf schools in the United States. The Legacy Golf Club hosts the local U.S. Open Qualifier each year, and it is also home to the American Junior Golf Association's Founder's Legacy Tournament. The Legacy is also one of 35 public courses in the area.

Features

The Legacy boasts one of the longest golf courses in the Las Vegas area. From the professional tees, it is almost 7,300 yards long, although it can measure almost 2,000 yards shorter for most other players. With its impeccable condition, it offers a wonderful golf experience, regardless of how well you play. When you're off the course, you can tune up your game at the Legacy's practice facility Hit balls off of both mat and grass stalls, putt on the large practice green, and finish your practice by hitting from the practice sand bunkers adjacent to the driving range.

Expert Insight

While most golf courses in the area are very well maintained, what sets the Legacy apart is that it was designed as a links-type course. As such, much of your success will depend on the wind. Regardless, playing the Legacy is a memorable experience.

Choose the Putter Designed for Your Golf Game
by Staff
If you've ever been humbled after having your stroke analyzed at one of those high-tech putting studios, you know why the adage "feel is not real" is, well, real. After all, when examined under a microscope, all the flaws of your stroke are magnified. Your path goes left, your clubface is open, you hit everything off the toe--the data doesn't lie and sometimes all that bad news is enough to make you want to impale your flat stick into the monitor. What's important to keep in mind, however, is that our strokes demand specific kinds of putters.
