The Mackinaw area is an extremely popular destination in northern Michigan. It is just a few miles from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

Mackinaw Island

Mackinaw Island's tourist's season is from the middle of May through late October. Guests can get to the island via airplane or by ferry from Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.

The island offers a number of types of accommodations such as the luxurious Grand Hotel, and a number of cozy inns and bed and breakfasts.

Things to Do on Mackinaw Island

Guests to the island can enjoy many outdoor activities such as bicycling, golfing and carriage tours. Other island attractions include historic Fort Mackinac, the Butterfly House and State Park. The island also hosts various special events and festivals throughout the year.

Mackinaw Bridge

The Mackinaw Bridge connects Michigan's Lower and Upper Peninsulas. It is breathtaking and a huge tourist attraction.

Mackinaw City

Mackinaw City is just a few miles from the island. Many opt to stay in Mackinaw City instead of on the island as it offers more economical lodging choices. Guests to Mackinaw City can enjoy various outdoor activities such as golfing, fishing, boating and hiking. There are also a number of more family-oriented attractions in the area such as a water park, miniature golf centers and a maze of mirrors.
