Information on San Diego Beaches
San Diego beaches are as diverse as the many golf courses in the county. From the upscale northern beaches and courses, to the student-filled central beaches and the family oriented southern ones; there is a sandy spot and a fairway for everyone.

Black's Beach

Located along the cliff's just above Black's Beach is Torrey Pines Golf Course, one of the most visited golf courses in San Diego County. Although the beach is fairly empty most days, the course requires reservations well in advance. If you're waiting out your tee-time on the shore, you should be aware that Black's is San Diego's only nude beach.

Pacific Beach

More popular for its nightlife than its shore, Pacific Beach still attracts a high number of sunbathing day-trippers and tourists. With a few minor courses nearby and a wealth of clubs and bars, there's no need for a golfer to trail far.

Mission Beach

The wooden Mission Beach Roller Coaster, formerly known as the Giant Dipper, was built in 1925 and was added to the list of National Historic Landmarks in 1987. The southernmost section of Mission Beach is a hot spot for pick-up basketball and volleyball.

Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach provides easy access to Highway 8 and Interstate 5, as well as Friar's Road, the route to Admiral Baker North, Golflink.com's 14th-highest-ranked golf course.

Imperial Beach

Imperial Beach is probably best known for hosting the largest sand sculpture contest in the United States, the U.S. Open Imperial Beach Sandcastle Competition.

Golf Equipment Tip of the Day

How to Give Your Golf Clubs a Tuneup
by John D. Tudor
During the course of a year, an avid golfer's clubs are swung anywhere between 18,000 and 20,000 times, carried or hauled on a golf cart for about 3,000 miles, roughly handled another 1,000 times, tossed about the trunk of a car for over 20,000 miles and swung in a variety of less-than-perfect situations involving low-hanging branches, rocks and hardpan. Obviously, the stress and strain a golf club endures goes far beyond that for which it's designed, so now is the perfect time to examine your woods and irons and, if necessary, get them back into playing shape.
