Preparing for my first round (8 days and counting)

Thanks to encouragement I've received from fellow golfer on the forums I've decided to take the leap and play my first round of golf.  My swing is still very raw.  I have been practicing with various clubs for around 3 months now and have taken 5 lessons from GolfTec which has only given me the fundamentals, I still struggle with getting consistency in my swing.   The lack of consistency is what's kept me off the course, fearing that I'll get out there and not be able to hit the ball, making for a frustrating and embarrassing experience.  I realize now that I'll never be consistant enough to feel like I'm ready, so I just need to get out there and have fun.  Thanks for all the encouraging words from everyone!

Up to now I have mostly practiced with my wedges (sand and pitching) so I'm pretty consistant with them, but very inconsistant with my other clubs.  I have decided to dedicate each practice session to getting better with a particular club.  This morning I practiced with my 9 iron and I'm starting to see some improvement with it.  I'm mostly focusing on just taking to club back to a quarter swing as taking a full swing usually results in a low pushed shot.  I think my main problem is I am either releasing the club too late, or not enough.  My grip might also be suspect as I think I have too strong of a right hand grip, but when I try to weaken it it feels really unnatural to me.

It's really hard to tell what my problems are without video to look at, so I plan to have my wife take a video of my swing from different angles so I can post on the forums and have some of you guys see what flaws have crept into my swing that I'm not seeing.  Look for that sometime next week.

This is my first blog, so sorry if it's all over the place.  I'll try to keep an daily record of my progress.

The most important words are "have fun" & "relax". Remember we all have the same starting point. How did the Video Analysis go at Golftec? Did they take it outdoors? It is FUN on the course, though some days are more fun than others. Enjoy it.
