The "Chili String" is an annual , end of year outing around these parts. The "Chili" part is because it's usually cold out, and because thats our meal afterwards. The "String" part is because it's a 4 man scramble where each team is given 10 feet of string to improve the lie of the ball anyway you see fit, this includes using it to finish out a putt that might have been missed. You are not charged a stroke for using the string, but you must cut and dispose of the section of string you have used. The skin pot was $1,200.00 this year with 20 teams competing. My team finished 15 under par, We strung in an ace on a par 4 that I left 8 foot short off of the tee. We hoped that was the only skin out, only to find out there were 7 skins. We won our green fees back and got a chili dinner that killed me all night. There was no payout for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd places. Just play all out for the skins. Overall it was a beautiful day for golf.

What a great idea. If only my mates would let me do this, life would be good.

Hey LD, My mates have seen your blogs and think the "Chili String" idea is one that will work for our weekly bounce game. Going to give it a try next weekend.
