The "Chili String" is an annual , end of year outing around these parts. The "Chili" part is because it's usually cold out, and because thats our meal afterwards. The "String" part is because it's a 4 man scramble where each team is given 10 feet of string to improve the lie of the ball anyway you see fit, this includes using it to finish out a putt that might have been missed. You are not charged a stroke for using the string, but you must cut and dispose of the section of string you have used. The skin pot was $1,200.00 this year with 20 teams competing. My team finished 15 under par, We strung in an ace on a par 4 that I left 8 foot short off of the tee. We hoped that was the only skin out, only to find out there were 7 skins. We won our green fees back and got a chili dinner that killed me all night. There was no payout for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd places. Just play all out for the skins. Overall it was a beautiful day for golf.

&nbs p; Woke up to a temperature of 36 Degrees F. ,Looked like a good day for golf as soon as the frost left the greens. I was able to talk a couple of friends into playing. We had a great time ,everyone played well. The Chili String Scramble is next week. Everyone is looking forward to playing in it since it is probably the last event of the year. The new putter grip is the best thing I've bought this year. I'm dropping putts from everwhere, with more confidence than I have had in years.

I tried to defend my title in the club championship on sunday, but it wasn't in the cards. I almost drove the first two par 4's chipped on and 4 putt the first hole, made par on the next. I hit the irons straight and pure all day, hooked my driver, and putted worse than Ray Charles. The thought the best thing happening was the girl in the beer wagon till she tried to pimp me out of $10.00 USD. At that point I gave myself permission to have fun, and that I did.

I went goose hunting today and it was a little slow so I decided to hit a few golf balls between flocks. The place I hunt has a large mowed area next to the pond. It's funny how if the geese see you when your hiding in the blind they will fly away. If you are hitting golf balls , they don't hesitate to come in to land. Whack and Stack. I hit the ball good today. I'm looking forward to having some fun in the Club Championship tomorrow.

I put a "Tiger Shark " Putter grip on my two ball putter today and went to the course to tune up my game for next weeks club championship. The jury is still out on the putter grip. Iwas hitting a baby draw today, that was comforting. My driving was long and on target, my wedges and putting were good, no three putts. The course was so slow today, that I played the first three holes three times before I got to play #4. I played till dark and never got to the 10th hole.
