This game is like an addictive drug. Played 18 with my bud yesterday and he broke 100 for the first time !! We have both come close the past few times but he shot a legit 98. I hit a 110, but with a few bright spots. I had the only birdie of the day, my first ever on a par 3. That just makes me want to go back right away and play 18 more. I had a pretty good back 9 by my standards, I actually got smart and left the driver in the bag. Hope to hit up the range tonight if I have any light left and try to cure my slice (this is my never-ending battle). Anyway, I am now completely consumed with golf and and plan on a few lessons, a decent set of clubs and getting a membership at one of my local courses, if my tax check permits. Can't wait for Sunday and Wednesday to get here, Sunday is mainly my practice day at the range and at the putting greens, at night I just use my living room carpet, Wednesday is golf day. Hope to report back soon with some good double-digit news.

More adictive and more expensive than crack...and completely legal. Of course, I've never mugged someone to get enough money for my next green fees...yet. ;-)There are lots of good videos dealing with swing problems like your slice right here on Golflink in the "Tips and Videos" tab at the top of the page. |

Man oh man do I agree! I never touched a club until last June at the grand old age of 46, and now I'm insane with it. About the slice: I've had that constant problem -- or at least, I guess my problem could be called a slice. My tee-shots went straight and long, but always and forever to the right to some degree, near to or into the woods, with just one in every 10 or so on the fairway. Well -- I say all that in past tense because, believe it or not, my friend cured my slice last Tuesday! Cured! I tested this out yesterday and again today, so it HAS to be real. Today I hit 8 out of 9 fairways, and the only one I missed was to a greenside bunker on a par-3. What's different? Turning the right hand over the top at impact! That's all. My friend told me to do this on purpose until it felt "funny," like I was turning the club over too far. It works for me! Straightened out my fairway woods as well. Maybe give that a try next Sunday and Wednesday.
