Took my pops out last sunday for his birthday... guy is a helluva ball striker but unfortunately he only plays about 3 rounds a year. Figured it would be nice to get him out. We went to a semi private course down by the jersey shore called Sea Oak. Here are the stats.
6600 yard Par 72.
We were the second group off (7:08) and we didn't see the group if front of us until we hit the 19th hole. Which makes for a relaxing day. The course was in great shape... Greens were fast and true, fairways were tough ...covered with moguls...each hole had a "safe landing area" which make the course very tough. After spending the last couple weeks at the range trying to slow my swing down and get better tempo it was time to put it to the test. I was extremely happy with my ball striking, score could have been a little better. But Im not complaining, got to spend a day with my pops and play a new (not crowed) course. Things were looking promising out of the gate parred the first three holes with ease and stepped up to the 4th tee. Par 3 playing 183 yards with about 7 bunkers... Took out my 180 club (8 iron) and chunked a fat one a hundred yard into a fairway bunker....probably the ugliest shot I hit in awhile. Had a 83 yard sand shot to a pin tucked in the back of the green... Picked off a perfect sandwedge that landed about 86 yards and spun back to 6 feet... tapped in to save par.. Parred the next hole and the four remaing holes on the front were a disaster.... The only ray of light on the back was a birdie on 10...then it was 3 putt city.
Went out in 41..Came in 43...
I wasn't happy with my score...putting could have been alot better, but my ball striking was there..
Fairways: 10/14
GIR: 9/18
Putts: 35

Even the uglies can turn into swans. I bet the Par 3 felt good when you walked off?How did your Dad come on? I hope you were playing for a little something at the 19th. |
