Wow...Geoff ogilvy just won on the PGA tour and all anyone can talk about is how the streak is over. It is not like it was going to really last. Tiger is great for golf but some of us are getting tired of people's unrealistic expectations. Here is some search data to show the difference between tiger and everyone else.
At age 6 Tiger Woods made his first birdie on a 91 yard par three. He Won the Optimist International Junior World at ages 8, 9, 12 and 13! At age 20 he was the Sports Illustrated "Sportsman of the Year"... blah blah, the list goes on and everyone already knows all these facts.
But here are some additional factoids you may find interesting regarding the number of times certain keywords are searched on the internet. (These searches are per month)
Tiger Woods 63,096
Ernie Els 970
Woody Austin 45
John Senden 7
Aaron Oberholser 2
So Tiger is pretty much a Giant on the world wide web and not just on the golf course. Just for the record George W Bush only gets searched 30,853 a month. Maybe Tiger should run for office??

You seem to be the only one here talking about his streak. There was another entry, but not with the glee you seem to have. Maybe now you can get on with your life. :-)

I CAN get on with my life now that I don't have to hear about the streak anymore. The streak talk was not allowing me to deal with life. Thanks to Geoff Ogilvie I can return to my family and job. I hope they take me back.

You need to take up a nice, relaxing hobby....like golf. ;-) LMAO I tend to ignore the hype and buzz so I didn't get wrapped up in all of it. Realistically, with the technology, training, and level of play today, the odds of anyone going undefeated on the PGA is worse than me getting my tour card. :-( All it takes is one bad shot or unlucky bounce and the rest of the field is all over you like buzzards on road kill. Good luck on that family and job situation. |

Training and level of play account for 99% of the level of competition that the PGA Tour sees. Technology accounts for 1% tops. Everyone is using top tech on the tour, so there is no way that technology plays a factor in the inevitability of Tiger's streak not lasting. It all comes down to training, conditioning and practicing to close the huge gap that Tiger created when he first went pro.

I will agree that technology has helped everyone shoot lower scores...except amateurs, and that is where the other factors enter into the picture. If you doubt my scoring statement, look up the average score for PGA pros over the last 50 years and the average score for amateurs. We amateurs have not kept pace with the big boys, in spite of technology.

We hit a lot further than fifty years ago, but shoot about the same. Short games are suffering.
