Why can’t tiger hit it down the middle?

Tiger is the best Scrambler on tour.  That is not the stat that most tour pros want to own because it means your in the tall stuff way more than you should be.  That is scary to the rest of the pros on tour.  If tiger could ever figure out how not to spray the ball all over the course with his driver he could dominate the tour…and by dominate the tour I mean win a few more tournaments than he does right now.  Last year Tiger was ranked near the bottom of PGA pros in accuracy.  He hit 48% of his fairways compared to say Scott Verplank who hit 81% of fairways.  Yea, yea…I know what you are thinking “But Tiger hits it so far that he drives it THROUGH the fairway.”  No he doesn’t he just sprays it.  Yea, yea…I know what you are thinking “But Tiger is so strong that Tiger hitting out of the rough is like Fred Funk hitting off the fairway.”  Wrong again genius.  Tiger wants to hit off the fairway as much as Corey Pavin does who is usually 40 yards behind him.  Tiger is one of the greatest putters ever. Period.  Tiger is one of the greatest scramblers ever. Period.  Until he can learn how to hit it down the middle please stop talking about how great of a driver he is, because he is NOT. Period.

umm... Not to correct you on all these things that you think you know but tiger last year was one of the most accurate drivers of the ball i am not sure what you are talking about. Number 2 he was not the best scrambler last year Rory Sabatitini was so i am not sure what you are talking about in his last 8 tournenments he has hit 90 % of the fairways i have not idea what DATA you are looking at but you are not reading the right stuff. Now i am not going to say that he is the best driver of the ball but he is number one he does have little bad streaks we all do get over it i mean come on he is so good he does not need to hit it in the fairway sometimes i think he wants to hit it in the ruff and have someone steep on it and have to draw a 2 iron into a tucked pin and do it from 320 + yards and then he smiles when it is closer then the guy he is playing with who was in the fairway.

Just a follow up to christian and all the tiger fanboys. Latest stats show Tiger at 166th in driving accuracy and #1 in Greens in Regulation. He is #206 on the tour in total driving which is distance plus accuracy. That confirms my blog post of not so accurate but an amazing scrambler.
