Played a few times over the weekend. Frost delays seems to be the order of the day. I really don't mind. I'm happy I have the opportunity to play year round. It won't be long before the heat returns. Makes me glad I'm an early riser... usually.
I was paired up with a few guys over the weekend that played a little slower than I would normally prefer. They each took at least three practice swings before every shot....sometimes more. Putts included. They also took several "practice shots" if their initial ball wasn't what they wanted. Am I just whining here or is there justification for my current state of big mouth. Anyways...I'm just saying
Bought a new 3 wood yesterday. Took it to the range last night to break it in...... Well it's almost new. It was a Taylor Made R7 st graphite demo club recently placed on the rack. Spotless....100 bones cover included. Always puts a smile on my old sourpus

frost delays in arizona..geez! try waking up in southern new jersey every morning..ive actually played about six times this january..avg. temp. 38degrees..as long as the wind isnt blowing its not to bad..i have the whole course to myself..thats good and not good..i drop 12 to 14 strokes from my average..probably because there is no pressure and im playing alone..i hope to keep the strokes off in the spring..i am finaly learning to play better around the green..i never used a sand wedge for my short game until recently..now, if i can just get off the tee straight and 200 i will be a happy man...peace out my brother

Yo Sarg, I feel ya man.I lived in Buffalo for the first 30 years of my life. Maybe 6 months of play each year. Actually the average temp in Az at early morning has been around the same, 38 or so. I don't use a sand wedge around the greens much. Everything I read says I should, but I'm pretty used to using my pitching wedge or even a 7 iron for certain shots. Dress warm and hit 'em straight

Hey fellas! What you have to do is come down here to South Texas. Man the weather is great. All in all, there's probably only about two weeks of "unplayable" weather. I love it!Anyway, the way I look at it, those guys should of let you through. There's nothing wrong with taking a practice swing before your shot, I do that myself. But if you're taking three or four practice swings, and then a practice shot, c'mon, you have to let the group behing you pass. Take your time if you'd like, just don't take up my time. |

I've heard good things about south Texas golf. Sounds similar to Az regarding playing time. I can't remember a weekend when we couldn't play. How are the rates in S Texas?

man you guys are making me jealous! i knew i should have moved out of this state.gmannn- i always thought that a sand wedge was just for sand traps..go to the driving range and blast a few at the 50 yard flag and see how accurate it is. the average golfer can use the sand wedge from 0 to 100 yards pretty accurately. just remember to swing the club, dont be shy. i am also experimenting with the flop[ shot with the sand wedge..awsome shot just have to learn to be confident with that face wide open , swinging full speed ahead just 25 yards from the pin..
