Real Golf, Fantasy Golf...what’s the difference?
Posted: Apr 28, 2008 | 8:51 AM PST

Growing up, I started golfing at about the age of 10.  I played alot, some of it semi-competitively until I was about 15 when I started getting more into Basketball and Baseball.  I played a round every now and again in Syracuse with my roomates and friends, and then joined a gold club after college where I'd play one tournament a month.  After a year or so, my swing had gotten so bad that I had no clue where the ball was going anymore and no idea how to fix it without putting in a LOT of hours of training and practice time.  Basically, I put my clubs in the closet around 1999 and I hadn't taken them out again until four or five months ago.

I signed up for some lessons to try and re-build a swing from scratch.  Once I started to feel comfortable I spent a lot of time at the driving range, and then bought a set of clubs with the shafts and club head angles customized to fit me.  Most recently I even joined an indoor golf simulator gym where I can get in a round of 18 holes on one of 50 famous courses in a little over an hour.  The best part is that I'm having a ton of fun anytime I break out the clubs...no matter whether it's at the range, on a big course, or indoors on the simulator.

The main difference with me and golf now as opposed to when I was younger is that I'm only being competetive with myself, and even then, I'm not taking it all that seriously.  It's become fun again, and that's all I care about.  Anyone want to get out on the course?
