I have Taylormade Burner driver, and itsy bitsy putter. go to the driving range about 2 times a week. Im now looking into buying irons. I like the feel and look of the Callaway X22's. Would these be good irons for a beginner?

generally speaking, callaways are a good choice for a beginner, yes. taylor made irons are also very good. ultimately, if you are just starting the game, i would suggest spending under $250 - just get something that you feel comfortable over...preferably a used set which will help keep the price down. once you get under a 20 handicap, i would then look for a newer, better set of irons.

Ebay is a great place to buy used clubs. I bought a set of "like new" Mizuno MX950+1's for $300.00. I also found a set of drivers for 50.00.

It's an old argument but I'll dig it out. Check out the clone club sites. I recently upgraded from an old Ben Hogan garage sale set (over 35 years old) after about 2 seasons of steady play. I bought the X22 knockoffs from Gigagolf and have been very happy with them. The Hogan Apex blades were not very forgiving yet I managed with them ok. The GG irons made a big improvement in my consistency of play and they look good too - and all at a fraction of what I would have paid for a new set of branded clubs.
