Hello. New to the site. Apologize in advance if I've done something wrong on this first post. Generally dislike most chatrooms but my first impression on this one is that the community is a very friendly one and that made me want to say hello and perhaps contribute useful items in the future. I definitely wouldn't be the go-to guy for golfing tips (yet), but I do travel a lot and visit many different courses. Knowledge gained from those experiences can be relayed to whomever might be interested. Just holler! My wife is my favorite playing partner except when she wins! We've played 50-60 times since we started, but rarely play 18 holes. Seriously.....she loves the game and it's given us much enjoyment together over the past 14 months. We're both terrible. We started in the 140s and 150s a year ago (obviously we never cheat!), and I've slowly worked it down to near 100-105 on an average day. She's also picked up 30-40 strokes. One beginner's lesson so far and wish I'd taken it earlier. Like most who play this game, I have good and bad days. I like to think I'm on the verge of breaking 100. I know that ain't great, but give me at least SOME credit.....I'm left-handed! I am learning and improving gradually, and I will eventually be entering every single round we've played into this website, which is a terrific place to visit. I want to be able to track my game and improvements from the beginning, although I must admit it's rather embarrasing to enter a 79 for nine holes! (Should you look at our scores, we do accept sympathy cards!) I'm having the same difficulties as some of the rest of you entering nine-hole scores and having this website keep the statistics properly, but I believe from chasing through the threads on here that the site owners will eventually find a way to fix that problem. Until then, I know my stats will be a little crazy. So that 20 handicap it lists for me? Don't believe it! We're self-employed (long hours) and usually play nine holes due to time constraints. Long course, short course, it don't matter to us. We do take the etiquette of the game pretty seriously and always play ready golf and try to schedule tee times when it's not busy so we don't hold up the process, although those kinda days have lessened for us. It was tough (and embarrassing) to think we were holding up people when we were just learning. Yeah, we did the par-3 stuff and the driving range to get prepared, but you just don't know what it's all about until you get out there on a real course. So anyway, we might have already met in the past year.....as we let you play through! I knew we were getting better the first time someone waved us through. They were drunk though.....does that still count? This is absolutely the toughest game I've ever played, and I haven't missed too many sports. We do love it! Looking forward to being part of this forum and adding positive vibes to what is apparently a pretty good group of folks! Sorry for the long post, but thanks for reading!
