I have been playing golf for a while and my problem is that the bottom of my swing seems to be where I focus my eyes on the downswing. When I focus on the ball the bottom is at the ball, when I focus on a spot 2 in. in front the bottom is 2 in in front. The problem with focusing 2in in front is aligning the club face I need to look at the face in back of the ball, which means then I must move my focus from the back of the ball to a place in front of the ball. That seems like a lot of eye movement and I frequently slice when I focus in front, but when everything comes together I am getting 10 to 15 yards by focusing in front where the bottom is 2in in front of the ball.

Is there a better way????

your not that far off actually, just keep practicing. It the bottom of your swing is 2 inches in front of the ball thats probably a good thing; it means your hitting down on the ball which is what actually makes the ball get up into the air. as you get a better swing you will learn to get the clubface closed so that you won't slice.

Thanks for the encouragement, in the last 4 days I have hit a few hundred balls and I am beginning to consistantly hit it straight and am getting the extra distance about 50% of the time. It really feels good when I hit it correctly. I put impact tape on a few of my clubs and am hitting the ball in the 4th and fifth grove off the mat because the grass tees have been closed. I am anxious to get to the course and see how I do under the pressure of the course.

Thanks Again.
