I took my clubs to my local GS to be re-gripped with new decades. When they were finish I brought them home and started to clean them up. That is when I noticed that the little white lines (the marks used to set my thumbs for a weak or strong grip) didn't line up with the center of the shafts(8 out of 11). Some went left and some went right and one was comletely twisted. So I brought them back, all but the three that were ok and one guy there made me feel like a pain in the a$$. Am I? I paid over $100 for this headache.

your not being petty but your a sucker for paying to get your clubs regripped. Your paying that much, it should be done correctly. Grips are 3-5 bucks a piece and you can do it yourself in minimal time, it's really quite easy. IT does take some skill to get them lined up perfect but you can do it without having a vice. Personally i play lamkin crosslines and i put the grip upside down so the lamkin logo faces down. there are no other features on this grip for alignment purposes so it doesn't matter.

Thanx for the reply CP. I didn't think I was being petty. They did fix the grips and I'm happy with them. Also I wouldn't say I'm a sucker for paying to have my clubs regripped. I just don't have the time or the patients for it. Thanx again.

In this economy unless you ask for a rush job you should expect a perfect job from a golf shop. Shops are closing all over and any shop that screws up griping your clubs doesn't deserve to be around long. I learned to grip clubs while working part time at a shop years ago but like you I dont want to spend the time or by the supplies and store them. By all means thou if you find a good shop that treats you well give them all your business grips, balls ,gloves and clubs. The golf business is tough and we want good shops to stick around.

I'm lucky in that I live 3 miles from a PGA Tour Superstore. If yu buy your grips there, they put them on for free. So depending on what brand or grip you buy, you could come out paying WAY less that $100 for a set. But whether you pay $50 or $100, you are paying for them to be done right, so you are 100% right inhaving them re-do them.

I don't think you're being petty at all! You deserve quality service; they didn't deliver.

Seems I'm always getting grips put on, and have never once had twisted grips from my local store. You are certainly NOT being a PIA. Not even close.
